hello friends and watchers.. )
i know it might seem as if i am neglecting this account... but believe me..i am NOT LOL.. no.. i am in the middle of moving... still living in the old house but most of the stuff already being in the new house... amongst them my beloved PC! at the moment i only have about 2 hours access to my pc per day which.. is not really much. just enough to catch up on new deviations.. replying to messages and notes.. and going through emails. definitely not enough though to create anything new. please.. forgive me.. i hope to be back full time by end of the week.
I too know the suffering that not being able to use a computer can bring and the pangs of moving, at least you are spared the enlightening experience of losing virtually all you own as I did following Katrina and later repeating the experience in Texas. They say art is born of suffering, there does not seem to be any set amount of suffering that will produce an artistic achievement or type, so our frustrations at those things (lose of computer screen time and the trials of moving) may be the suffering that produces an artistic achievement for us. I know that when I got my laptop back the second thing I did after checking Gmail and DA was to start work on 'Cutting Edge' and did it fairly quickly finishing it only moments before I submitted it here. Of course I've gone back and tinkered with it a little more and I may resubmit or update if I like the results better.
oh my... you were a victim of katrina? how awful.. yes i was spared of losing everything.. at least not to a storm. losing i did but that is a different story... as you say.. it is terribly frustrating not being able to be creative.. it gets all bottled up in you. however i have started to go 'traditional' .. and that is a good outlet too.. it is insteresting to combine the traditional and digital.. you can learn from both and it makes you more flexible.. i think. so there's always something good and positive in everything that happens to us... thanks for taking the time to reply to my journal... i greatly appreciate that!
OK, finally got back to talking to you. I like the things I've seen on DA and elsewhere that were a blend or meld of traditional and digital. I've wanted to go to traditional media and techniques for a while, but the truth is I have no talent in traditional art (as though I might have some in digital). I say, and it is true, I couldn't draw a straight line with a yardstick and and a transit. But I do have something very strange that happens in times of great stress or emotional upset. Then I can reach some place inside where something almost automatic takes over and I can draw and shade and color, all sorts of things I can do, but it is like I'm not the one doing it. Very disassociated state and place, but interesting to be in. Having been hypnotized a few times, I can feel a great many similarities between the hypnotic trance state and this state I can sometimes enter, but it differs in enough ways that I'm sure it is something only akin to the hypnotic state.
ah.. yes.. now that is very interesting.. you could of course say it is your higher self taking over.. that, which really makes the artist an artist? i can do self-hypnosis and i meditate a lot so i know what you are talking about... i work best if i let my thoughts just drift off.. or empty my mind.. and let... IT take over.. whatever it is. i guess that would be similar to your state..... and in order to work with that.. what are your tools? i mean can you just follow the flow? i know i must sound like a sales-person now.. lol.. but do you know ArtRage? that is a wonderful program where you can work traditionally but on your pc. you have various tools where you can paint.. with oil, chalk, crayons etc and it is really fantastic watch that roommate of yours before responding )
Answering From bottom to top --: He is sleeping right now. BTW I have dozens of shots of him asleep (the only time I can keep him from imposing his 'ose' on the shot I really wanted to shot; he always wants to look a certain way which is alright, but I'm wanting to capture the look I saw not the look he wants to project, I've resorted to sneak shots when he is not aware I'm intending to shot in order to avoid that 'ose'. Yes I have ArtRage and love it (except I don't like the "brush" so much, I'd rather have a selection like you get in The Gimp). Yes, I think you understand what I mean. It is some part of the unconscious mind, able to control hands and eyes and apparently artistic vision and talent. I have seen shows about automatic writing and it seems the functions are akin.
yep i agree... about the automatic writing. it is.. mmh... we tap into our very source.. or higher being or whatever you want to call it... but we only have access to that when we are in a certain 'state'.. i assume that the waves of the brain change in that state as it is trance-like... that is the moment we are totally balanced and 'with' ourselves.. and that is when we are really creative..... one with ourselves and the universe.. so to say.
sleeping.. hehehe... and you shoot him then.. hahaha.. what does he say to THAT ??
Ok from bottom to top again. He's okay with it, the sleeping photos. I am working on a shot I made a week or so ago where he is going to be like "Ghost Rider" (have you ever seen the movie?)for Halloween. He's not too pleased with the results so far so I'm changing what I thought was a good piece to make him satisfied. BTW we both are a little sick with some sort of upper respiratory problem.
Yeah on that one with ourselves and the universe, I agree. I just would like and would prefer to be able to use it at times other than those of great stress.
Got to go for now, was online 'til after 6 this morning and woke up at 10 and by 12 was back online again. I have to get off and get something done. Oh good, Justin just woke up and he's going to want to go online (in fact he is waiting now) so I have a good excuse to go do something else for a while. Ill talk at you later.
good morning to you... i was going to reply last night.. but then... decided to wait until today. it WAS late for me and i still had to drive home.. yeah.. i am living in two places at the moment LOL...
as to that state.. i think you can learn to go there when you want to... and not wait for a stressfull situation to 'transport' you there... as it is a kind of meditative state it should be possible. do you meditate??
ghost rider... no i dont think i have seen it... but it sounds like a good idea for halloween )
sorry to hear you are sick.. nothing serious i hope..? i have a bit of a cold too.. nothing to worry about.. just a nuisance )
started to write something, but my roommate needs this laptop urgently he says so I'm typing this just to annoy him but I'm going to let him have the laptop in a second and I'll come back later and talk some more with you. LOL LOL
